The Boult Audio AirBass PowerBuds TWS is a budget-friendly option for those in the market for a new pair of truly wireless earbuds. With a price point of under 1500 Rs, these earbuds offer a variety of features and functions that make them a great value for their price. In this review, I will explain my opinions about the design, performance, and overall user experience of the Boult Audio PowerBuds TWS.
Boult Audio AirBass PowerBuds is a truly wireless earbud (TWS) that can enhance your music listening experience without tangling with wires. These earbuds have pretty decent battery life as well as offer a power bank case with 2200 MAH battery capacity. You can literally charge your smartphone using these earbuds’ cases. What I am talking about? TWS or Power bank.

Well, I had the same confusion before buying these earbuds. Due to its catchy features, I finally decided to get the earbuds for a review. Let’s dive deep into my thoughts when I used it for almost a week.

What do you get in the box content?
After unwrapping the box, you will see nice packaging and some user manuals inside. Upon lifting those user manuals, you will see the earbuds placed inside the provided case. The case has plastic construction and a plastic cover wrapped on it. Besides the case, the small paper box contains USB Type-A to Type-C connector and a few extra ear-tips for proper fit.
When unwrapping the earbuds from the plastic cover, you will feel like it’s a brick. The box is really heavy compared to many other earbuds on the market. The actual earbuds are placed inside the case and small plastic covers are installed to prevent earbuds from additional charging during shipping.
The earbuds came up with some juice left and I didn’t have to charge them for my first use.
Build quality of Boult Audio PowerBuds
The build quality of Boult Audio PowerBuds is quite solid. It is IPX7-rated waterproof and promises durability. That’s what is claimed by the company. I do agree with the claim to some instinct.
The overall weight of the earbuds and case combined felt quite heavy in my opinion. I would love to carry earbuds when I am traveling or heading toward my office. However, due to its heavy weight, I found it a bit inconvenient to carry. It’s not a big deal, but why I am complaining is pretty simple. I am just focused on carrying an earbud with me, not a BRICK.
Let’s talk about the earbud’s build quality!
Well, if you ask me in simple words, these are not extremely comfy to wear. But, they do fit in ears properly, no complaint.
The ear tips provide ample cushioning and the earbuds don’t fall even when you run.
These earbuds have touch button controls on top, but those are mostly disappointing. Whenever I touched my earbuds, they never responded. Sometimes, they responded otherwise mostly failed.
The charging cable provided in the box is not of good quality. You do need to handle it with care to prevent it from damaging.
Connectivity and range of Boult Audio AirBass PowerBuds
Boult Audio PowerBuds support Bluetooth version 5.0. When you first try to connect it with any device, it may take 10-20 seconds to connect. After it connects with a device, it connects with that same device again without complaint within just 2-3 seconds. No complaint here.
If you connect your earbuds to multiple devices, and when you take the earbuds out of the case, they seamlessly connect with the previously connected device. There is no mechanism for switching between two devices and we cannot expect such a feature at this price point.
However, I didn’t like the fact that the earbuds lose connection frequently. When I experienced it for the first time, I thought, it is a glitch. But NO. The connectivity was not so stable.
Boult claimed that the Bluetooth range is about 20 meters which is exaggerated. I didn’t experience it practically. The earbuds lost connection even when I was just 1.5 meters away from my smartphone.
As I said, the Bluetooth connection is not that stable and it bothers me a lot.
Looking for a computer speaker
Sound quality of Boult Audio AirBass PowerBuds
The sound quality of Boult Audio PowerBuds is just OK not so great. The ear tips fit properly, hence you get better noise reduction. The sound is a bit muffled.
When I tested it with multiple music genres, I found, the earbuds are loud and they provide a good amount of bass. The mid-tones are the main element that is muffled. The vocals are not crisp and clear and it feels like someone speaking from a hole. To be frank, I don’t like such vocals when listening to music.
Out of curiosity, I tried to attend some calls to test it while taking calls. To my surprise, again the vocals muffled a lot. Calling becomes difficult because connectivity is a major area where Boult Audio PowerBuds lack at.
If you want to listen to some instrumental music, these earbuds could be a great option. But come on, who does buy an earbud only to listen to instrumental music?
Battery life of Boult Audio AirBass PowerBuds
The battery life of Boult Audio PowerBuds is the only area where it beats most other earbuds at this price point. As Boult claims, the battery life of earbuds with the case is 120 hours and I am pretty sure it can easily last up to that mark.
The earbuds alone last for almost 4+ hours without putting inside the case which is amazing. You can charge the case individually without putting the earbuds inside and it charges pretty fast. I didn’t notice any heat during charging the case and neither did the earbuds.
An extra advantage—you can use the case to recharge your smartphone. However, it has only a 2200 MAh battery capacity and our smartphones these days have more than 4000 MAh battery. So, you won’t be able to charge the smartphone 100%. That’s why I was not so comfortable about its unnecessary weight due to the bigger battery.
The bigger battery is making the whole combo heavier and neither serves any extraordinary feature.
Final verdict
In simple words, Boult Audio PowerBuds are not the most ideal earbuds out there. You can buy any other earbuds at this price and they will serve the same purpose. Unless you really need a bigger battery and are OK with the heavy build, you can consider these earbuds.
The music quality, connectivity, and call quality of the earbuds are sluggish and they disappoint most of the time. Hence, you can choose some alternatives as follows.
