I am a person who loves to take pictures when I am on travel. And that’s one of the reasons why I ended up choosing this small and lightweight mirrorless camera, but you might think, why not other options in 2023 despite the fact that Sony ZV-E10 has no viewfinder? Let me explain.

The design and build quality of the Sony ZV-E10 mirrorless camera is really very good. The camera has a compact and lightweight body, making it easy to carry and handle. The camera body is made of high-quality plastic materials, making it durable and resistant to wear and tear.
It also features weather-sealing which protects it from dust and moisture, but I would say it’s just OK, not GREAT.
Additionally, the camera provides a comfortable grip and intuitive controls that make it easy to use. The camera also has a touch screen that works only for focus, but not for navigation. Overall, the design and build quality of the Sony ZV-E10 mirrorless camera are well-suited for someone who needs a lightweight and compact camera with a bunch of professional features.
There are some key points to remember as per my opinion when buying Sony ZV-E10.
- You don’t get the perfect metal body in this budget
- This camera is very compact, hence you might face some issues with bigger zoom lenses
- You don’t get many buttons for control but that’s not a big concern
Sony ZV-E10 camera usability
This is one area that is extremely important when choosing a camera. The faster you would be able to find settings, the more chance of clicking perfect pictures and shooting perfect videos. When I look for a camera, I consider usability as my priority.
Sony ZV-E10 has a typical Sony menu which is not the best in the category. I find it difficult sometimes to switch between different menu options. There is a button to switch between camera, video, and a slow-motion video mode that I dislike the most. In most other cameras, you would find a wheel to switch between various camera modes, but that’s not the case with Sony ZV-E10. However, I adapted myself to this particular setting pretty easily.
Sony ZV-E10 camera settings
There are a bunch of setting pages in the Sony menu options to choose various camera and video settings. I found them just as a one-time setup and you are good to go with them.
The most usable button is Fn behind the camera that I use the most. It opens up a quick setting panel where the most commonly used settings are available for ease of use. The most common settings I use in my camera are as follows:
- Drive mode – Single shot, multiple shot, timer
- Focus area – Wide, Flexible spot, and more
- Steady shot – Choose standard or active stabilization mode
- Picture profile – Choose a picture profile
- Exposure mode – Choose automatic, aperture priority, shutter priority, or manual mode as and when required
I feel good the above settings are easily accessible in Sony ZV-E10 which is fine for my use case. I hope, these are the only settings a person might be using in daily usage.
To control the aperture and shutter speed in manual mode, you can use the physical wheels on the top and back side of the camera respectively. However, for ISO settings you need to click the ISO shortcut button on the shutter wheel and you can adjust ISO. As we use the ISO settings very less often, Sony has managed to make sense with a shortcut button instead of a dedicated wheel. Fujifilm cameras are great when it comes to such physical wheel settings.
Overall, the settings are available with minimal design and they are perfect in this compact camera body.
The picture quality of the Sony ZV-E10
I bought the Sony ZV-E10 with Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens. If you are buying this camera with a Kit lens, that’s not ideal. As I said, I was looking for a camera to set up my YouTube home studio. Hence, I decided to go with a bigger aperture lens. The picture quality of the Sony ZV-E10 is close to a full-frame camera combined with this Sigma wide-angle lens.

I have no complaints in terms of the picture quality that you get from this little camera. As you can see yourself the pictures are stunning. I am not a great photographer, however, I am pretty sure that you understand what I am trying to deliver.
Video quality of Sony ZV-E10
The Sony ZV-E10 is designed for vloggers as claimed by Sony. In my opinion, it’s the most suitable camera for indoor and studio use cases. Why so?

Final thoughts
When it comes to price-to-performance ratio, the Sony ZV-E10 is a perfect camera for videos and photos both. I agree, there is no viewfinder, but the screen brightness is more than enough to take pictures when you are on a travel. If you are a professional photographer, this camera may not be ideal for its limitations. However, if you are a professional videographer, this camera is perfect to begin your career without breaking the bank.
